Miracle Monday: Layla

Happy #MiracleMonday!

Today we get to learn more about, 6 year old, Layla!  Layla and her twin sister, Suzi, were born at 31 weeks gestation.  Weighing only 3 pounds, 13 ounces, she was sent directly to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit after birth.  During her 8-week stay at the NICU, doctors and nurses regulated her kidney output and stabilized her body temperature and weight.  She spent several days under the bili light for jaundice and struggled to take her feeds by mouth.  During her NICU stay, Layla was in a Giraffe Omni Bed the entire time and her mom, Molly, says she cannot stress how important these beds are to the NICU!  We asked Layla some questions about herself.  See what she had to say!

  1. What is your favorite color? Blue
  2. What is your favorite food? Brownies
  3. What is your favorite movie? Beauty and the Beast
  4. Who is your favorite Disney princess/ super hero/ athlete? Belle & She-Ra
  5. What is your favorite holiday? Thanksgiving because it’s almost my birthday
  6. Where is your favorite place to be/travel? At the beach and I really wants to go! (She has never been but still her favorite!)
  7. What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I love to put on make-up, sing songs, and do art
  8. What is your favorite game to play? Candy Land
  9. What are three words to describe you? Precious, calm and brave
  10. What is something you want people to know about your experience/ diagnosis/ condition?  When asked what people should know about being a preemie she replied, “How would I even know what it’s like? Of course I don’t remember being a baby!”

I’m sure Layla is good at keeping her parents on their toes!  Thanks for letting us get to know more about you!
