Miracle Monday: Julianna

We are going to start the week of with our new series, #MiracleMonday! This series will let you get to know more of our #MiracleKids at MU Health Care’s Children’s Hospital.  Let’s meet 12-year-old Julianna Basi. She was diagnosed with Down Syndrome and some respiratory issues when she was very young. Julianna has three brothers—Alex, Nicholas, and Michael. Let’s get to know more about Julianna.

  1. What are your favorite colors? Red and black
  2. What is your favorite food? Pasta!
  3. What is your favorite movie? Spirit Riding Free
  4. Who is your favorite Disney princess/ super hero/ athlete? Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug
  5. What is your favorite holiday? Christmas
  6. Where is your favorite place to be/travel to? Mackinac Island
  7. What is your favorite game to play? Twister
  8. What are three words to describe you? Friendly, goofy, baby-lover
  9. What is something you want people to know about your experience/ diagnosis/ condition? According to Mom, Julianna “loves nearly everything about life (not dental appointments and shots, but y’know, who likes those?), so the hardest thing about her diagnosis is the assumption that she belongs somewhere *other* than with everyone else who is typically-developing, because being with people–of all abilities–is what makes her happiest. This is why we are willing to be “those parents” to make sure she’s given every chance to live her best life–just like our other children.”
